Polynesian Cultural Center Events for August

Kia ora! Te Manahua Maori Cultural Arts Festival celebrates Aoteaora (New Zealand) with international participation at the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC)!

The music, dance and people of Aotearoa will be showcased on Saturday, Aug. 31. Festivities will feature the crowd pleasing Haka Hard! and Poi-e competitions and exhibition performances from groups around the world. Beginning with the Haka Hard!, groups will present unique renditions of the Maori haka, an adrenaline-pumping dance meant to record histories, traditionally performed by war-parties. In the Poi-e portion, groups twirl poi (ball on end of a string) in rhythm with a chant or song creating visually appealing patterns and movements. Admission is $10 for adults, and $6 for keiki, ages 5-11.

PCC is offering kama’āina guests $15 admission and $25 Dinner & Evening Show specials until August 31, 2013 with proof of Hawai‘i residency.  For more information or reservations, call 1-800-367-7060. On Oʻahu, call 293-3333, or visit Polynesia.com.
